A search and rescue team has managed to retrieve a group stuck in snow on Old Man Range near Alexandra in Central Otago.
The six people were stranded when their vehicle broke down on the way to Duffers Saddle last night.
Initially, plans were considered to try to have the vehicle towed however this was not possible.

WASHINGTON: Another Pakistani-American has been inducted in the US President-elect Joe Biden s administration, The Washington Post reported. Salman Ahmed will be joining Biden s foreign policy team as director of policy planning at the State Department. Ahmed previously served as head of strategic planning in Barrack Obama s National Security Council.
He also served as the chief of staff of the US Mission to the United Nations and a senior policy advisor to the US Permanent Representative to the UN.
He is the second Pakistan-American to be a part of the Biden administration after Ali Zaidi was appointed climate advisor last month.
Traces of a Mysterious Particle Predicted Decades Ago May Have Been Detected
Evidence of a long-sought hypothetical particle could have been hiding in plain (X-ray) sight all this time.
The X-ray emission coming off a collection of neutron stars known as the Magnificent Seven is so excessive that it could be coming from axions, a long-predicted kind of particle, forged in the dense cores of these dead objects, scientists have demonstrated.
If their findings are confirmed, this discovery could help unravel some of the mysteries of the physical Universe – including the nature of the mysterious dark matter that holds it all together.

PESHAWAR: A district administration team on Sunday visited various areas to supervise anti-polio campaigns and convinced parents who refused to give polio drops to their children.
The personnel of the district administration, health department and other relevant departments were visiting houses to vaccinate children against poliovirus in the ongoing drive.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Asghar along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Muhammad Imran Khan and Assistant Commissioner Syed Noman Ali Shah visited Landi Arbab, Kohat Road and other areas and supervised the anti-polio campaign.
After meeting the parents and convincing them, they vaccinated the children while the administrative officers went door-to-door with the anti-polio teams in their areas to persuade the parents who refused to give polio drops to their children.
